"With the fatwas of scholars and the widespread adoption of Quran translation, flaws also entered the art of Quran translation. The first person to address these harms and strive for an appropriate Persian equivalent for the words was the author of Taj al-Tarājim. Therefore, translators of the Holy Book must understand that the failure to carefully find equivalents for sensitive words like hijāb misleads the reader. This research aims to examine this Quranic word in samples of ancient and contemporary translations from Iran and the Indian Subcontinent over the past millennium. It will assess the efforts and understanding of thirteen translators in finding the Persian equivalent for hijāb and answer the questions: To what extent were the translators aware of the semantic context of the word hijāb in the Quran? And which of them did not imitate and reflected on finding an equivalent themselves?
The aim has been to evaluate the position of Quran translations regarding the equivalent for hijāb. Finally, the specific meaning of the word hijāb in each verse is recalled, showing that some translators found an equivalent, some repeated the same word, and Ṭāhirih Ṣaffārzādeh showed the greatest concern for the reader’s correct understanding in her translation."
